Designed to teach people how to use high effort, muscle activation, and “tricks” for bigger, better posture, balance, and everyday function such as walking, turning, rising from a chair, or floor, buttoning, and speaking. The instructions will be tailored to overcome “real world” personal challenges of the participants. Instructors: Stephanie/Mike

LOW to MOD Thu 12:45 P.M.

Improve your posture by stretching and relaxing, then relearn how it feels to activate the muscles on the back of the body and rotate the spine.  Yoga based chair, standing, and floor exercises will help you stand, sit and walk bigger and better aligned! Instructor: Stephan

   

PWR!GYM™ H2O

LOW to MOD Tuesdays 9:00

Take your BIG exercises into the water. Feel light and confident, and at the same time feel challenged by the natural resistance of water. Instructor: Stephanie

   

Functional criteria for all classes: All participants in PWR! GYM @ MVAC must be able to get up and down from the floor with a chair and walk 100 feet independently with or without assistive device. If we do not have the right class for you; we will make recommendations to help you reach your goals.

Subsidies provided to individuals with Parkinson’s disease that are members of the AZ Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association (AZ-APDA). The subsidies are total $25/month per individual and offset the costs of our group classes. If you are not a member, contact www.azapda.org now.

Arizona Chapter

Medtronic provided a grant to kickstart the Train the Trainer program. We have completed a rehabilitation-focused and a fitness-focused training program in Phoenix. We will be developing more continuing education materials (DVD’s/manuals) and pursuing approval for continuing education credits from several health and fitness cerification associations.
